what is recommended when selecting a surge protector?
the packages have a wide range of joules - from 70 to 1500 - so what is really needed for a computer?
thanks

I would be a good idea to have a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply). It lets your computer stay on when the power goes out for a number of minutes (usually 10-15).

Or better, go to a local store, then you won't have to pay shipping. Mine has saved my butt a couple times. Believe me, you won't realize how worthwhile it is until the power goes out :)

or, just get a laptop.....same effect.:P

I've been wanting to look into what kind of battery you would need to have a desktop PC run out your car for extended periods. That would be sweet, pull over to the side of the road and do some gaming :D
