Swap hard drives?

I have an older Compaq Presario that I upgraded with a Biostar motherboard with AMD processor, with XP. I forget the actual processor speed, etc.
I have since bought a new HP Pavillion with an AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core processor 4400+, with Vista. I don't care for Vista too much, and I wonder if it is possible to swap hard drives on these two units? And how much aggravation should I expect? :D
 
nope, you will get a blue screen on it when you boot it. you can swap the drives and reinstall the os but else no

Can I wipe the hard drive on the new puter and mirror the info off my old one onto it somehow? Or what about just replacing Vista on new machine with XP?:D
