Switched Cases and Now Get Error Message At Boot about Fan Not Working

I have an hp pavilion a6130 and now moved it to a new case. A full tower atx. I moved everything so far and it seems to be working fine except for one problem. When I first turn on the computer (before even GRUB loads) I get the error message "Fan not working properly get service to avoid damage to system press f2 to continue." Well I've investigated and found that my new case which has 4 fans compared to the old case's 1 are all working. I checked the cpu cooler-working. But I think I found the culprit. My old fan plugged into the mobo while the new ones all plug directly into the psu.

How can I get this thing to stop harassing me when I first boot up? Does this sound like the problem?

The bios settings will often list a disable cpu or case fan alarm when the speed falls too low or if a fan quits. You could add a side cover fan if the new case allows for one that will plug into that spot on the board. You would get any extra cooling benefit as well as shutting up the alarm.

Try a new Fan plugged into your mobo, Putting it on the side seems pointless, cuz I'm thinking its your CPU fan...

Maybe its just not plugged in all the way? Re-try connecting all your mobo fans.

did you instal the case's drivers?

nah, joking aside. how much wires did come from the fan in the old case? (I suspect 3) and how much are comming from the fans in the new case? (I suspec 2 there)
I think the error is caused by the motherboard not getting the rpm signal from the case fan (wich it always got). its an easy fix, like PC_Eye said, just disable the alarm in the bios :)

(but yea, make sure its not the CPU fan thats causing the error, because it shouldn't! :) )

The first thing I do on any new build is first getting familiar with the bios setup for the board being run. The model here sees an alert if the cpu fan falls below 800rpm with the option to disable that. Some boards will also see individual options for the main case fan generally the rear on while a side fan can go onto that particular connector on the board if needed to silence the alert.

Who wants a fan on a side cover someone asked? Try additional cooling for the larger vpus seen on the 8800s and new Radeon 3870s for a start. You will note that many cases see a large fan on side covers.

Archangel the latest AeroCool AeroEngine Plus has one to take a good look at. http://www.xoxide.com/aerocool-aeroengine-plus-case.html That looks a bit different from their older model seen at http://www.xoxide.com/aerocool-extremengine-3t-black.html

Standard case fan is 3 pin, one being the speed sensor. As you didn't plug it into a header on the motherboard, the BIOS thinks the fan is dead. Replace the fan or disable the sensor. If possible, just move the one out of the old case.

..SirKenin is right, your motherboard just thinks the fan is dead because it's plugged into your PSU now, and your motherboard can't monitor it.

Find where the options for this are, probably in Hardware Monitor, System Health or something similar, it depends on your BIOS. Then set the fan(s) to disabled/ignored/similar option.
