I have the possibility to purchase the Win 7 Basic Edition at a very affordable price.

I am currently using Windows XP, in a notebook with 2.0 dual core processor with 3 GB RAM.

I am using it for internet and Microsoft Office purposes.

Is it really worth switching to Windows 7 and will I feel differences? Currently I have no problems with XP.

If you do, I would not use install the basic(starter) version. You have a decent processor and enough memory to run home premium.

It's up to you if you want to upgrade. Xp's support ends in a couple years so you may want to think about upgrading soon.

some of you mixed the "home basic" version with the starter version, and you are right - home basic is not available in every country. What I mean is the "home basic" version.

Imo for what you do its not worth upgrading for just internet and Microsoft Office purposes....you say that you Currently I have no problems with XP,So why upgrade?

I would just stick with Xp for now until Microsoft ends support & Updates for it then switch to 7 then,It will probably be even cheaper by that time.
