i have a hercules prophet 4000xt 64 mb pci graphics card installed, my friend gave me a ATI Visiontek xtasy radeon 9250 128mb pci card and i want to install it but im having a very difficult time with it he cant find the driver cd but i downloaded the driver. i uninstalled my hercules and turned off the computer, unplugged it, removed the hercules, put the ati in, and when i turned it on i got a black screen then faded into a dark gray screen. my motherboard monitor outlet is different than my monitor plug so i have to have a graphics card so i have to keep plugging my hercules back up. i tried puting both of the cards in at the same time thinking that the plug and play would recognize it but it says it is a 9200 pro or something im about 5 seconds away from using some left over fireworks on my computer. plz help

try this

install one card and make sure that your vga or hd cable or dvi fits for the card and stuff make sure you got the right hookup and make sure that ati card is suported by the 16x interface that pci express uses

is that a pci or pci express if it is id say you prolly got agp mixed up with a pci slot or something if that happens then that could be why? agp slots usually are black on mobo

and pci slots are white slots in the motherboard pci slots are usually under agp slots and you only have one agp slot per mobo that supports pci and agp

and the video card should work without the driver til you go online and get a driver. oh and whats the name of your motherboard and all that that will help me out alot so i can look up the specs if you would like just drop me a message and i will if you need a program to help ya out i can help ya with that as i am always free in the daytime drop me message after you repost cuz on here it doesnt notify me that someone posted
