newegg has the aspire 5732z on sale:

i want to 'upgrade' my laptop because i think the 5732z would be better than the 5536 for what i use it for, which is for school and work. so far the comparison looks like this:

better cpu
Pentium dual core T4400 vs athlon QL-64
1550 vs 1043 passmark score
i could use a faster cpu, but would my battery last less & would there be more heat?

4gb vs 3gb ram
64-bit vs 32-bit windows 7
moot point, really. i never run more than three programs at a time: ms excel + firefox + calculator :D for school

vpn + 3 or 4 rdp sessions with dual monitor with vga output for work.

slightly smaller hdd.
250gb vs 320
i barely use 30gb now, so i don't care much about this.

gma 4500m vs hd3200
both integrated/shared ram

i watch hulu & youtubes, how much crappier is the 4500?

First off the passmark scores aren't exactly the most accurate things around. I've seen multiple occasions where it showed processors being evenly matched but in reality there's quite a wide gap. To be honest though, the Intel processor will probably kill that AMD one. I don't know right off, but AMD has almost always been behind Intel with the mobile market. Performance, heat and battery life are almost always better on intel platforms.

The rest of the stuff is pretty much identical. RAM probably won't make much if any difference. HD; heck, you could swap them out if you wanted :P

Now the GPU will be a fair bit slower, as in probably half as good. However, the Intel does have hardware acceleration for various types of videos. That coupled with Flash 10.1 should provide you with no problems watching hulu and youtube

well... i bought one. if anything, i'll sell the 5536 for a couple hundred after swapping the hard drive :)
i am concerned about the lack of and placement of usb ports. there are only two and they are on the same side, very close to each other.

im wondering if i will be able to plug in my mouse and usb drive together
