Symantec

i think that i would get something that is dedicated just to spyware like adaware but symantec is very good as an antivirus from what i hear

On the grand scheme of computer security, Norton is far down on the totem pole. Norton let's a lot more slip through than more folks realize; they're Adware stuff is pretty much the same. If you're looking for good protection, there are much better ones out there. McAfee is my vote, I'm sure others will suggest some as well.

every person you talk to will tell you something a little different. General consensus is McAfee is a good program. Norton has slipped. I used to use ZoneAlarm Security Suite - it was good, very beefy, had a lot of stuff in it but for the most part I liked it. It has a good feature when you first install it. It doesn't protect against much for the first 30 days, to see how you use the internet. What programs you use and whatnot. Then it makes settings based on that. Could be bad if you got some bad stuff to begin with that constantly uses the internet, but if you install it on a brand new computer its awesome.

Still - I had no problems with that feature. I loved it.

Norton is 1) Expensive, 2) Crap, 3) System Hogger.

I have also noticed many people having problems deleting/removing it...

I'd recommend a 3rd party remover.
