i got my comp up and going. as it starts up it goes boot disk failure, enter system disk and press enter, i do so and the same error comes back up. what do i have to do, do i have to change the slave master things on the drives, in the actual drives and bios?? or is it something else??

Have you had this drive working before.

I have had this problem before, don't know what the **** was wrong, all I did was not use the comp for about 30 mins, plugged the drive back in and it booted up fine:confused:

This usually only happens when you have some missing or corrupt disk sectors or files.

I think my problem was to do with a dodgy disk controller though.

the hard drive is brand new, nothing on it. this is the first time that ive booted up the comp since i built it. i just want it to work

Go into the BIOS and make your CD drive the first boot disk. Then put your windows XP disk in there and press a key to boot from CD when prompted. Install your OS and you should be ok.

I'm assuming, of course, that you haven't done this already.
