my xp sp1 512 mg ram system freezes frecuently, when i go to the task manager the CPU is 100 percent used by one process "explorer.exe", then i finish the process, then new task, explorer.exe, but in a few minutes the problem is again. This problem just occurred out of no where after a reboot. Whenever I am using some files or programs, Windows freezes. This is because some program or malware replaces original explorer.exe or his dll links. i know there are programs that can backup the explorer and the links at the original status. The system was scaned for virus or malware and nothing. Anybody can help, What could I do???

If you say this just happened recently after a reboot...

Use system restore.

To do so, go to Start-->All Programs-->Accessories-->System Tools-->System restore

Click on, restore your computer to an earlier time, and set it back a day or two...or three..(whenever it is you did this). Click on the day, and on the right there will be a list of restore points. Look for one that coresponds to a time just before this happened.

This might help..might not..dont know. If not, just go back to system restore and undo your restoration.

EDIT: Oh yes and by the way..you should probably upgrade to SP2

also bring up task manager click on processes and find explorer.exe right click on it and file down to set priority and make sure it is set to normall not high
