System freezes

Hi,
I have a MOBo that seems to freeze completely every so often. Sometimes whilst in full use, other times whilst on screensaver. I wondered if it was a software problem, but I swapped out the MOBO for a different one and my windows XP Pro is now fine - so it must be the other MOBO. It is an Asrock M266A Rev 3.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Board, cpu, memory, bad install of software if not Windows, and a few other things could see that. Generally with a total hardware failure besides the board you would have heard an audio alert of some type. Asrock as a brand does rate low when compared to several other makes and models.

stay clear of asrock mobos they are budget mobos and they are nasty crap build quality and dodgy reliability

If the board there is a few years old you may have a weak battery if there are no problems with the board itself. When a cpu overheated on the last build here the fsb had to lowered otherwise Windows froze upon reaching the desktop.

It could be the chipset running hot tough.. have you checked if the heatsink on it is dirty?
But yes, like Kenin said, AsRock is Asus's budget line.. but still,.. a randomly crashing motherboard,.. well... it must have a reason. :)
