System process acting strange

Lately I noticed that my comp was slower than usual, when checking the task manager I noticed that System process is jumping from 0% cpu usage to 20-22% every second. Any idea what might cause it.
I have a PIII-1Ghz, 514 ram, windows 2000
Thanks

as I mentioned earlier I'm running Windows 2000, so there is no msconfig.exe.
I checked the registy files but couldn't find the problem.

right, there is a process called "System Idle Process" this is supposed to be high, dont worry, its not actually using that much of your CPU, but it is meant to be displaying a relatively high number (when not doing much)....

As for "system" im not entirely sure why its going high

My P3 is fine for the job I have to do,
Back to my problem, "SYSTEM" process (not "System Idle") is jumping from 0% CPU usage to 20% and then back to 0%, back to 20%.......every single second (it doesn't matter if I used or if its idle)

acrobat

acrobat has seemed to cause alot of problems make sure it is not that I think th e processer is called acro32.exe or something like that.

I thought it was some kinda spyware, but no results after scanning it with 3 different anti-spyware softs. I have BitDefender Pro firewal & antivirus and it's been very good so far, so it should of detected it.
Acro32.exe was runing on my comp at one point but I disabled it, since I rarely use Acrobat.
I'm sure it's something really stupid that causing that.

here's photo example of my CPU usage history and again the process that's using it is "System"
