system restore to factory (dell)

i have a couple dell computers and one of them i set back to factory settings and i cant for the life of me remember how i did it .. it had some thing to do with the control or alt key and i belive it was the f11 key but not sure can some one help
I know this will clear the comp. but thats what i want it is old and we need to redo it

i did say system restore but it actually wipes out all programs and takes it back to factory before any thing was added this is what i would like to do get rid of all programs and start over

It all depends on the machine really and how they set it up. Some just require the reinstallation cd and others you can do this by going into the restore utility by pressing the f11 button or whatever it says to do on the post screen. What model of dell are we talking about?
