System Restore

Hey, I'm having troubles running all the applications on my computer right now. Not sure why... So i'm taking the only step i can and formatting my HDD. My question is if i format it and then start the windows install would the key code that im currently using still work? I have a feeling that when i re-install it it will say it's currently in use.

Any information helps!

(System restore isn't working and is not letting me restore to an earlier point)

If you are only using the key on 1 computer you can reactivate it as long as its the same cd/key combination. After install it should automatically activate. If it doesn't activate you can call Microsoft and they will give you a key after you explain its the same computer you just had to reformat.

How much space free do you need on a hard drive to restore your computer to an earlier point in System Restore?

I read that you have to have at least 300 megabytes free to create a new restore point.

The usual advice is to keep at least 15% of the drive free, but other factors may be involved.

That advice was offered to a magazine's reader...

in the question and answer section regarding system restore.
