System restore

can i format my hd i have a c: and d: drive and im wondering if i can do a system restore??? do i have to have some sort of cd to get windows back??? please help...

If you want to format your hard drive you need the Windows disc that came with your computer.

Then you'll probably have to go buy a new one. Or get some other free OS like Linux. If you want to do a Windows format, you can right-click on the drive, go down to format and do it that way. It'll work but it's not as effective as the other way.

For the D: drive, yes, absolutely. I'm not sure on the C: drive, I've never tried it, but I would think that it would leave all the OS files intact.

it wont let me its saying something like other programs are using contents in it but i already used the task manager to end some processes.
