system stability tests/diagnostics

Hi all,

what do i need to do or what software is needed to run a complete diagnosis/ system stability test?

its just i know my pc isnt working properly,it just crashes and doesnt respond sometimes...then i get 0xc000005 erorrs.

but i dont know what the heck it is.

any suggestions please?
 
well with windows it is really hard to tell, because their log files suck. You can poke around in the event viewer and see if anything pops up over and over again that could raise a red flag, or white flag if you want to surrender!

To test out your hardware, you can download memtest x86 (google it) which is free and it can test your memory. You can download a HD test from the maker of your hard drive.

You can try running a chkdsk /r which will scan your file system for errors and attempt to fix them. This can only be done at boot, or in recovery console.

however, first back up your data!
