System Startup Problem

I just tried to reformat my hard drive with XP but it didn't work properly. I need to know how to force the computer to boot from the cd, or just get to a command prompt before the GUI actually starts up. Please help!

you can set your boot order in your bios, just specify for you cd to boot before your hard drive. Then insert a bootable cd. (you can do the same for the floopy and put in a boot disk if you should so wish)

And remember to press a key when the display says "Press a key to boot from CD"

And make sure its not control or shift

also check that u have specified that cd-rom is the 1st boot device, from the bios
