System Upgrade

Hi guys, so I've been wanting to upgrade my system for a while now and I finally have the money to do so.I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how I could upgrade it, I'm not great when it comes to computers but I know a few things. For a CPU I was looking for something in the 3.8-4.2ghz range, for a GPU Im looking for something like the ati radeon HD 6000 series, and a 500w+ PSU. As far as mobos go I have no idea which is better.I don't want to spend £400+ or anything, around £250 for it all (can go over). I use it for general web surfing or gaming, indie games and some serious games like crysis etc.
Any suggestions would help.
Thanks

AMD Athlon x3 445 3.1ghz
Asus M4A78LT-M LE
4GB RAM (2X2)
Ati radeon hd5570
Coolermaster 500w psu
Nothing is overclocked.

For about $505 (310 Pounds) you could go with a:

AMD FX-8320 @ 3.5GHz
ASUS M5A99X Evo R2.0
Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition
and a Corsair CX600 Builder

It's pretty much what I'm putting together for myself.. Your RAM should work and the rest of your components should be compatible if you don't have too many PCI devices.

Thanks for the suggestions! I only have my GPU for the PCI slot.

You can't really get this for £305 I'm afraid. I live in the UK after all so I should know. ;) I'm just on Novatech at the moment and the FX-8320, a Gigabyte 970 board (which is only £55 or so) and an R9 270 (not even a 270X, so likely the same speed or slower than a 7870) comes to £305. Add a power supply to this lot (£50-60) and it's going to be close to £400 - which is over-budget.

You can't just simply convert USD into £ and hope it's ok - we live in a rip off nation. You Americans get it all much cheaper than we do. ;)

You can get this lot for £246. It's not going to perform as well as the setup Digxt suggested, but since you can't buy that lot for £305 here in the UK, this will have to suffice. :)

AMD FX-6300 http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/processors/amdpiledriverfx/fd6300wmhkbox.html
Gigabyte 970 http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/...lus970chipset/atxformfactor/ga-970a-ds3p.html
Radeon R7 260X http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/...aphicscards/amdr7260xseries/r7-260x-cnf4.html

Use your existing power supply and RAM - you'll be fine.

Should be faster than what you have now and fits into your £250 budget with a fiver to spare. ;)

Though if you could go up to £300, you could always get the FX-8320 and the R9 270. Or consider getting the FX-6300 and an R9 270X.

Thanks for the suggestions, I was looking at this motherboard the other day, unfortunately i will not be able to afford the FX-8320 im only 16, dont really earn much money, and I agree we do live in a rip off nation.

I know what it's like being 16 and money being scarce. I'm 16 too (actually built my system when I was 14). Just gotta save for a while or look at getting a job (which is what I've now done).

For £250, the stuff I recommended is good and probably the best you'll get. If you can go up to £300 or just below that then see if you can get the FX-6300, the same board and instead of the R7 260X, the R9 270.
