t famous windows 8 warning about my HD

I just got that famous windows 8 warning about my HD reporting failure and I downloaded

HGST Windows Drive Fitness Test (WinDFT)

and clicked scan but no drives appear..

Ideas?

What brand of hard drive do you have? Are you sure you aren't infected?

Sounds like a virus, can you system restore to the day prior or log in as a different local user to see if the behavior persists?

Give us a screenshot next time it happens. There are a lot of malware out there that will falsely tell you your hdd is failing.
