is ten thousend megabits a T1 connetion and what does the T stand for

T1 is 1.5MBps, not ten thousand, its about half the speed of the average cable internet user, although the upload speed is also 1.5MB. I dont know what the T stands for though.

geoff don't you mean twice the speed as cable?

When I had a T-1 line in my office I didn't notice any difference (than cable) in upload speed since you are limited to what they have on their end. I did notice a big difference in download speeds.

my cable connection is 4Mb/s and T-1 is 1.5Mb/s.....so cable is more than twice the speed of T-1
