Tab thing help

After restarting the PC this tab appeared on the left hand side of the screen, how do I get rid of it?

If I understand you correctly you would like to have the contol panel tab off your desktop...Have you changed themes on your comp lately , Rightclick anywhere on desktop and choose properties. Under "themes" what does it tell you ? (modified theme ?)

Also when I try to drag and drop files/folders it gives me a circle with a line through it, why is this?
