takes ages to log in

I had repaired my OS(win xp sp2 latest one) with a older one due to some problem.Now when i boot my pc it takes ages at the welcome screen.How can i make it work faster?

defrag, run msconfig and disable all teh startup programs that are under the "startup tab"

start, run, type msconfig, click the "start up tab", place a green chechmark next to every program you would like to run at start up. if you want you can choose for no program to run at start up, and then start the ones you need when you need them. also a "defrag." is a good thing to do also.

1st of alll, what are ur computer specs?

have u scanned 4 any viruses/spyware?
