hi guys
hope you can help. on startup i get this woman's voice saying computer now booting from self-test, computer now booting from operating system, its doing my head in {american drawl} need to get shut any help welcome

you can disable it in the bios i believe.

computer was built for me so don't know what kind it is . running windows xp pro . have looked in bios says disabled but isn't

well, try enabling it, then see if it still occurs, if it does, disable it again.

worth a try.

you must have an ASUS board, they did that to a lot of models about 2 years ago, damn annoying that is, you could always take a hammer to it.

You can just detach the PC speaker wires from the motherboard. Unless it's coming from the sound card...
