It'll be fine ... that "warning" is a tool Microsoft uses to make companies pay $200K/year to get it WHQL certified. Have you just tried the nVidia drivers? :)

Usually that window pops up when you are installing drivers that arent compatable for Windows XP. Be sure to select Windows XP and download the NEWEST drivers for your OS from the cards website. what brand made your card.

In general you are quite right however in the specifc case of video cards, you're probably best off with the core-drivers (i.e., from nVidia, ATi, Matrox etc rather tha the OEM/card drivers). :)

OHHHHH! i got the newest from PNY for XP but not Nividia. Ill try that out. But i may have made the prob becuase i didn't install the cd it came with i just went to pny site and installed their newest driver for gf4 cards! But how could it eat my start menu and task bar.

Nope i find out i due have the latest drivers from nividia pny just gives you a link their site. Should i try reinstalling the software?

Im saying in reference to older cards that were before the XP erra. They came with drivers for ME, 2000, 98 whatever which wouldnt be compatable for XP. You cant go wrong getting the most recent from the cards site. Just make sure you delete your old ones

It's fixed now thx for the help guys. What happened is that after i uninstalled the original graphics driver it came back after start up and conflicted with the new drivers so i disabled it in device manager and now it works. Thx guys

If you install the chip drivers you dont run into problems like that :) (well at least with nVidia... dunno about ATi drivers as i dont deal with them day in day out)
