task manager malfunction

When i try to open my task manager a error pops up that says task manager has been disabled. Is there any way to reenable it, or is it possible i have a virus?

One way to determine if you have a virus, trojan, or other malware is to run the free online security and virus scanning tests found at http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/home.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym&plfid=23&pkj=HQXSESLHFEPGEVVSDUX

If it's a simple problem with a system file you can run the system file checker utility if you have the Windows installation disk onhand. The utility will verify the condition of all essential files and repair/replace any found damaged or missing. You start that by typing "sfc /scannow" at the Run prompt.
