Taskbar and desktop icons disapeared!

Hello there,

I'm new here and I'm from Brazil. I tried many Brazilian forums, but I didn't find a solution for my problem, so I decided to try English ones.

The problem happens just after the Windows' welcome screen. The wallpaper is there and the mouse cursor too. But the Taskbar and all the desktop icons aren't. The only thing I can do is to press CTRL + DEL + ALT, and open the programs I need. The right mouse button doesn't work and explorer.exe is not listed in the process manager. So, I can't open my computer and the Start Menu.

If I try to open the explorer.exe by clicking on the New Task button, the task bar flashes for some seconds and go hide itself. Oh, the explorer.exe closes after that.

I tried some programs to repair kernel (I guess this is the name), tried to use Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, AVG, Avira Antivir, BitDefender and HijackThis, to see if the problem was caused by virus and/or spywares, but I didn't succeed.

BTW, I tried to repair the Windows intallation by booting from the CD, pressing 'R' etc. Didn't work too.

I don't know what to do. I just don't want to format the system. :(

Doesn't anyone have any idea that might help me?

Thanks in advance :D

Edit: Damn it! I've posted twice... could an admin delete the other one?
What a nice beginning...

I see this happen al the time but its on computers on a domain or with mutiple accounts, how we fix it is to log on a different account and delete the profile of the account with the issue.

i dont know how you log on your computer but this might help.

Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete
Click New Task...
Type in compmgmt.msc
On the left, expand Event Viewer, and click on System
Double click on any errors and post back with their descriptions.

I've done that. There are lots of errors, informations and warnings.

I need to click on any of the errors? Anyone? Because some of them are different...

Thanks!

All you need to do is post the errors, and if there are ten of the same errors, only post it once.
To get the information needed about the errors:

After you do that for each error youll need to press Ctrl+V while in the Computer Forum reply window

There are still 13 other errors, with the Service Control Manager font, but all of they tell that the program xxx was closed unawares.

Sorry for the translations, I know they are awful. Hope you understand them.

Thanks!

Try if that helps:
(You need to unzip it and double click).
Before you run this, BACK UP your system (registry (just in case)).

I noticed one of the errors can be caused by not having SP2 installed, have you installed SP2?

Hmmm I guess so. Because the first time I started Windows after I just reinstalled it, the blue screen appeared asking if the Security Center should be enabled or not.

I think ur windows has gone mad.Try restoring to previous best know time.Plz post,if you can't restore .

Before I reinstalled the OS, I tried to restore the system. It worked. But on the next day, the same fu***** problem again.

subtle, I was looking at your post on the other topic (that one I've made mistakenly), and you've suggested me to do something. But the topic was deleted. What was that about?

Thanks all of you :D

I was:
Start > Run > type: sfc /scannow (you need to insert OS CD into your cdrom).
ctrl+alt+del > File (from menu) > New task (Run) > type: explorer.exe
but you already tried that...

oh, and try that:
TaskbarRepairToolPlus!

I've done it. I've created another account with admin rights and I enabled the Guest Account. And both was with the same problem: taskbar and desktop icons missing

Start > Run > type: sfc /scannow (you need to insert OS CD into your cdrom).
ctrl+alt+del > File (from menu) > New task (Run) > type: explorer.exe

When I type this, the Windows doesn't recognize the command.

And I already have this tool. Which option should I select?

Edit: I wasn't typing rightly. I typed it, the bar appeared and kept flashing.
The computer is a little slow.
Oh, every time when the taskbar appears, the IE opens up loading this url:

Didn't work. An error message said that it wasn't possible to copy the file or something like this.

BTW, I made a search with this IP which appears when the IE window pops up. I found that it's a kind of infection, and shows some announcement of an Antivirus. This announcement used to appears for me too.

I have the Vundofix and the Combofix. I guess both have found infections, but I culdn't fix them. Does it has something to do with my problem?

Thanks!

Did you typed that correctly (expand X:\i386\explorer.ex_ c:\Windows\explorer.exe) with the cd in cdrom?

It might have...

I think I typed it correctly. But I was reading the article and it says something about installing the Recovery Console. Do I have to install it to do what you've said? Because when I tried (and the error message appeared), I had booted from the WinXP CD, and pressed 'R' on the Installation Screen.

Ok...

What this 'expand' command does? Does it just overwrite the explorer.exe?

Edit: I've done it again, and the same message. Something with "couldn't create the file".
