Daft question (I am really non tech / network tech savvy)- but whats the technical term for the network port in the wall which you stick one end of your cat5/6 cable into, and the other end into your LAN port on your PC/Laptop.
Also, when cable is plugged into the wall port (insert tech name) -- where does it go, and what wiring (and what type - tech name) is on the other side of the wall - and where does that wire go?
Does your IP address get assigned to the port - or your PC? i.e. any PC plugged into that wall port would get the same IP?
