Television as a pc monitor

The TV is an hdtv that i also use to watch tv and play my xbox 360. i looked on the side of the tv and saw the blue pc connector thing. The one with all the pins and has the two screw thing on the side. so i took it from my dell monitor to that one but picture never came up on that one. Picture only shows up in this monitor. Does that monitor have to be installed or something because i think this dell monitor is called a plug and play monitor for a reason.

I changed the thing on the top of the television also to the pc screen, just like if i were to play xbox and change it to Colorstream HD mode.
 
umm change the input on the tv with the remote, like it will cycle through like composite and that, and once its on vga, go to your desktop and open up display properties
