Hi guys,
This is my first time building a pc and just wanted to see what you think and what i should do to make it a little better.

case - thermaltake soprano
mobo - Asus M2N-SLI-DELUXE
cpu - AMD Athlon 64 X2 (AM2) 5200+
psu - Astro 550W
ram - 4GB ddr2 800mhz geil cl-5
gpu - 8600GTS
hdd - 400GB seagate sata-2
os - Windows Vista Home premium 32-bit
keyboard - logitech G11
mouse - MX610

I want to play the new dx-10 games without any lag, Is SLI worth it?
 
You do know that with a 32-Bit operating system you wont be able to utilize all the 4GB, correct? You should expect to see around 3GB usable.

Also, if you want to play DX10 games "with no lag", the 8600GTS will not cut it. You should get at least an 8800GTS 320MB, but if you wish to use SLI you will need a much better power supply.
 
Naw SLI isn't worth it, the build looks good but i agree with the comments above, get a better power supply because i've never heard of the astro brand
 
Thnx for your reply's i'm now going to invest in a 8800 not sure whether to get a gtx or gts is it worth paying more for the gtx version? Also could you please recommend a good power supply that will run my system without spending too much.

umm...Why not just get a 64 bit OS? then you can use all 4 gigs...instead of waiting around for 2 to die? Ram doesn't usually just go *poof* dead.

Well that'd depend on what you need to do. I would suggest that you either buy 2 gigs of ram and stick with 32bit OS, or get 4 gigs of ram and get 64bit OS. Buying the extra memory would just be a waste of money.
 
:) i bought the ram way b4 the OS but 3gb will be good for games anyhow. i dont want to pay for another os atm
 
64bit can utilize around 128GB of RAM I think.. so buying it will set you up right now and until 128 or so GB of RAM is an minumum...

Yes but in addition to losing out on another potential gig, you also lose out on dual-channel I believe.
