how do i find out the temperature of the computer.

my fan is as loud as all hell and i dont want it on........should i leave it on or turn it off. Why is it so loud...the same computer in another room is very quiet.

If the fan is plugged directly into the mobo you should be able the change the speeds in the BIOS.

is the cause of the noise obvious?
is it running it's nuts off or could it be full of dust or maybe even loose !!
i wouldn't suggest just turning it off, replace it maybe(try lubricating it with some ht grease or similar)

Also be carefull when playing about within the bios. If you don't know what you are doing and you change things you have no idea what they are, you could end up messing your computer.

here is a pic.....inside the computer......i circled the fan. i think this is a 2nd fan as the other quiet computer doesnt have this fan.

If you want to find out the temparature of the your computer fan, go to this website http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php In here, click on 'download' (at the top of your page) and you will see speed fan 4.31. in blue colour. Click on that and it will led you to the downloading process. I hope you know the rest....

ok...but dont know wat to make of the results as i dont know wat is normal.......

If you really want to kill the temp and the sound (which shouldn't be hard, seeing you probably only have 2 fans in the entire case), you should just buy a new aftermarket heatsink. This way, your temperature will be lower and your computer should be near silent.

when i increase the fan speeds the noise is way louder....but when i turn off the fans the noise is still there so i dont think the fans are causing the noise i am wanting to stop....any ideas......

Try some PC coooler fan. I think you can buy that from shop under £5 (I think its under $10 in USA). By the way, if u see the red picture, that means ur temparature is high. If it is showing a blue arrow, it means ur PC is normal. If it showng a red arrow, it means ur pc is in fire. Sos. Thats all I can help
What about the percentage of CPU usage showing???
