Temperature Spikes and Fan Problem

For some reason, my GPU temperature increased from 32 degrees (C) to 66 degrees (C), then the temperature went right back to 32 degrees (C). All of this occurred while I was on Facebook. It's never done this before. Also, I was playing Fallout 3 yesterday and the fan for my GPU kicked on for the first time, but the temperature was the same as it always has been when playing that game: 52 degrees (C) and even with that temperature, the fan has never kicked on before. I've cleaned all dust out of the computer, ran malware/ad-aware/virus scans and each of them yielded nothing harmful. All drivers are current. Any idea what's going on here?

-EVGA 560 TI SC
-Antec 1200 (Two additional fans)
-Zalman Blue LED CPU Cooler
-I5 2500 3.30GHZ
-8GB RAM

if the temperatures are good why? stressing the fan being on? wouldn't you always want it running.

I don't think that's the answer he was alluding to...

Anyways, to OP:

If you use Internet Explorer or something with 5+ tabs, chances are that you will not only consume a bit of RAM, but also use up your vid memory if you're playing some flash game + loading videos, youtube, etc....

Can you provide more in detail as to (if you know that is...) when it spikes up?
