Temporary slowdowns, xp, games, everything

Problem:
My computer runs great for some time, 5-15 minutes, then it slows down for like 5-20 seconds, then it runs fine again for about 5-15 minutes, slows down for 5-20 sec.. and,.. u get the point :P

I use the computer for 2 things, server and game machine,.. while it stands as a server its not such a problem.. but then i run games on it, it gets kind of annoying, since the fps drops to like 0.2 or even worse..

At first it might be something wrong with my windows installation,.. cuz exporer went mad running at 100% cpu when the slowdowns ocurred.. mouse wouldnt lag thue (if the computer wasnt running games with own coursors..). Since i had it as a server i went ahead and saved all important things on my friends 60gig mp3 player.. and reinstalled everything, at first with my friends XP home since i was at my dads place, everything seemed to run fine but then i got to my pro CD and reinstalled with that, 100% clean install again,(donno if u can "upgrade" from home to pro), and started reinstalling all drives and so on (didnt install them before pro..), and i also downloaded the items from my friends mp3.. installed a game to play and zaamm.. 0.2 fps..
The game i tryed it on both times was War Craft 3,.. which should run on that computer.

So there are 3 options.. the first one is not logical, that my computer dosnt like xp pro, :o ..
the second option is that there are some shit in the files that i saved.. but i dont think so cuz i scanned everything before i formated the computer...
the third thing i can come up with is that my card dosnt like the newset drives.. but i cant confirm any of it since the 60 gig mp3 player isnt at my place anymore.. so i cant back up all the files again.. and i cant find old (and trused..) drives for it..

So here i am now, anyone knows anything like this? if not i guess il have to wait till my i get my hands on that mp3 player again (since i cant copy it to a normal hdd since i dont wanna spread posible infections.. (since i cant remeber if viruses can or can not spread with just copyed files...))
If anyone know where to get old drives for a nvidia ti200 NV20 card... i could try that one too, since the only drives nvidia supplys are the lates once ..

Here are some numbers for you:

First, be sure you have a good antivirus and scan regularly, second have a spyware remover such as AdAware and scan that often also. If neither one of those fixes your problem then from what you said it sounds like a heat problem since it dosent do this when functioning as a server but does when gaming because gaming produces alot of heat inside the case, maybe try getting a better heatsink/fan combo for your cpu and add some case fans. Hope this helps.

type msconfig in the runs command.. under start menu. Undet startup tab uncheck any boxes you dont want to start. I always find a lot of adaware there. Hope it helps..

Some P4 procesors underclock them selfs before they over heat. Although this does not sound to likely, I would buy a good new Heatsink to keep the temp down.

This does sound like a Hardware problem, I would like to also add that you should test diferent Video cards, Update you mobo Bios, and also check what temp your bios had a Temp alarm on your CPU.
