Tempramental Computer

Hello, this is my first post, I brought a computer off an friend. It was working before transportation to my house. However it wouldn't turn on when I got it home. I looked inside to make sure nothing had come loose. After double checking everything, I finally managed to get to turn on. However as I was not expecting it to work, I didn't have the monitor plugged in. By the time I had connected the monitor, the pc had turned off(after about 1-2 mins). I tried without success again for a while. I again tried today, had a look at the wiring, unplugging the disk drives to see if there was some malfunction relating to them, still no success. When I plugged it all back in, it turned on again, but this time the disk tray continously ejected and closed until after a minute, when it turned off again. It now won't turn on again. I have built my pc I'm currently using, so feel fairly comfortable with the wiring. There are 2 grey cables which were not connected, but they seem foreign to me as they
are not similar to any wiring in my case. Without instructions I'm a little bit more of a trial and error man, but it all seems logically connected except these 2 cables. The wires seem possible to connect to the disk drives or one spot on the motherboard, however I don't have similar cables in my pc or attached to my disk drives. Both are grey cables with a straight 4 hole socket each end, to connect to pins. The writing on the wires are as follows

AWM E148000 STYLE 254728 AWG 80oC VW-ISC LTK AWM I A/B 300V FT1

E164535 'D' AWM 2547 28 AWG VW-1 80 oC 30V CSA LL112842 I/II A FT1 HAURTIAN

I assumed they were for connecting additional hardware, but I am now starting to wonder if they are integral. Please can you advise and excuse my stupidity if this is a basic issue. Thanks for reading my problem
 
Computer specs? May be of some help if we know how old the machine is. And how many pins does the ATX connector have on it?

This is just a guess...but those loose cables *might* be needed to supply additional power for the CPU.
 
It may be turning itself off if your CPU heatsink came loose during transportation and the CPU is overheating. I'd reseat the CPU heatsink.

Could you take a picture of the extra connectors for us?
 
Thanks for your prompt responses, unfortunately after several tries. I can't seem to get a picture thats clear and below the max file sive. So here's my attempt at a diagram [oooo] and it has a little catch type thing on the top of it. Both ends of both wires are identical, but one with black ends and one with white. There is also a same type plug with the 4 holes as above, but shorter, that is at the end of one of the white plug cables like an extension. Incidently, the white plug wire is tied in the cable tie. I saw what you said about extra power possibly being provided by one of them. The plug does fit on some of the pins in the motherboard and also the disk drive. There is also a curious on switch on the motherboard, doesn't specify what its for, but I've tried it with it on and off and when it arrived it was switched to off. But I cannot see a brand name as it appears the badge has been removed. Its a square space, so I believe that might be Tiny, though not sure. It looks fairly old but has an XP sticker, so I'm guessing it was in XP's early days. Any idea's?
