Temps of my E6400

Hey there. I've been OCing my E6400, and finally just got it stable at 3.2ghz. But the temps (according to Speedfan) seem a little hot. Idle it goes between 43 and 45*C. While F@H is running it sometimes makes it to 50*C. Is that too hot? I have the Freezer 7 Pro HS&F and just put new AS5 on there a couple days ago. What temps end up being dangerous. I would like to go to 3.5ghz, but not sure if I can or should. Thanks for the info!

Check in BIOS, SpeedFan isn't that accurate.... I am just 'guesstimating' that your load is ~60-65*C... That is a little hot for my tastes and sounds like a thermal paste issues. May need to let it have its 200 hour break-in period. How much did you put on there?
 
I put as much as I've read to put. A bit about the size of a grain of rice. The thermal past is not even 30 hours into its break in period yet, so it may change soon.
 
50C is so so. I agree with Intelcrazy, Speedfan can be off by alot sometimes. BIOS is the best option, and the most accurate.
 
I couldn't find temps in my BIOS. Any ideas? Also, I downloaded CoreTemp and it has the same readings as Speedfan.

When I said idle, I meant I had F@H running. When I close out of F@H, the temps are about 2-5*c cooler, depending on my room temp. (My room temp fluctuates a lot.)
 
I've found that Speedfan reads my temps, like 15c lower than than they actually are, apparently it has something to do with the Tjunction, but I don't know what this is :P

Try downloading Intel TAT and see what it tells you. :)

I don't think the BIOS is very accurate, do you really think I get 15c idle, when the ambient of my room is 21c? I don't!
 
Wouldn't you only be able to use the BIOS to see the idle temperature?

I use Asus PC Probe II to monitor my temperatures - is this a reliable program?
 
I have no idea dude, sorry, I don't know which is the most reliable program myselft, I'm trying to find out too!
 
I've used the ASUS PC probe as well, and found it to have different temps than Speedfan. Of course that doesnt prove that one is more accurate than the other.
