I purchased 3 terminals i guess there called, maybe called dumb terminals, from a company that went out of business...they came with a hub and a computer without any OS on it....

when i boot a terminal it takes me to a connection screen and on that i can connect to my desktop using Remote desktop.....

now i want to connect all 3 of them to the single desktop and then have the terminals be like copies of the computer

any ideas?

You will need Windows server of some flavor (2003 works better than 2000 at RDP) if you have the money you could use citrix ICA. If you need any help setting these up give me a shout as i deal with this every day.

i have windows server 2000 coming in Jan...ill have to take a look at it, right now i have windows NT 4.0 server...

with the Windows 2000 Server i can have all 3 connect in stead of just one and having a connection and having the host computer lock out? that would be awesome

You can use Terminal Server on Windows Server 2000 and 2003. For NT 4 if you had Terminal Server Edition that you can set that up for the Terminals.

You will also need to have license for them to connect to the server just like any other computer on your network. What will the people on the terminals be using them for?

FYI

You can use any terminal server, Linux has free ones out there so you don't need to purchase a license to windows server. Depending on what you want to accomplish, depends on how you set them up. Terminals are used heavily in POS systems (thats point of sale for those that are giggling right now).

I would suggest you get a book on on windows terminal server. You will have to search to find one for 2000 Server.

i have windows server 2003, right now i can get them to work, but everyone who logs in gets a message that say something about a license and 118 days? any ideas

Because you will be allowing access to the domain controller to users that you normally would not.

make your computer server with windows server 2003 and configure it as a Terminal server for your dumb terminals......
