Text Blurred

This is a wierd one, updated my monitor to a Samsung sw 943nw, 19 inch widescreen, my built in graphics is ATI xpress 200, which has been set to 1440 by 900, which is the optimum setting for the screen,
The strange thing is that certain areas of the screen has out of focus text, blurred, I dropped the resolution to a lower setting and it seems ok, although the screen is not as sharp.
Is this a monitor fault or do I need to update to another graphics card.
The pc has a pentium 4 3.4Ghz processor with 2 meg ram.
Please help!!!

:(

If the monitor has an auto adjust feature then run it while you have no windows open at the desktop. it corrects all blurs and hard to see objects and text.

Thanks for the reply, but tried that, it is not the whole screen that is blurred, it is only certain areas, like patches, where the text is not sharp, it looks like looking through a lens that is not focused.

that will be fine, i mean the driver for the actual monitor.
google the model number or find the support page on the manufacturers website, download and install it.

Also, have you tried a higher resolution?

Just fetched monitor from home and connected it to Pc at work, at first it had the identical problem, so i updated the drivers for the graphics card, same problem, then i went into setup and switched screen refresh frequency from 60hz to 75hz on the adapter card display settings, problem gone.
Next problem at home is the xpress 200 graphics only gives me 60hz selection, any ideas what next? don't want to spend a fortune updating the graphics card as i wouldn't know which one would work at this level.
