Most of the time this is a macro, you might be able to find Macro creation software for your keyboard.

What kind of software do you recommend? I've never seen one that will instantly type a sentence upon a button press, for example

Not exactly what you asked for but I use a little program called Shortkeys that lets me put in shortcuts for text I want to type. For instance, I could set it up so that when I typed ",,h" - it would replace that with "Hello". Of course that wouldn't be so handy but you could also do this: ",,m" - might be replaced with "Mary has a little lamb, ..."
