The best I can get with $300 or less

I got an HP Convertible Mini Tower for Christmas. It's not brand new, but it's not really old, either, and it has an AGP slot. I would like to play a lot of the newer games on it; Unreal Tournament 2004 and Silent Hill 4, for example. What video cards do you suggest for $300 or (preferably) less? I'm looking for something that's a bit above-average. I certainly don't want lag >_<! All suggestions will be appreciated :D

Settle for a 6600GT and use the rest on a reliable psu. The one in your HP isn't built to handle such power hungry cards.

yeah

I would have to say I would go with the 6600 for the mear fact that I don't think you are giving up a heaping load of performance for the price difference...new power supply might be in question too!

nevermind

Actully, you are probably better off with the 6800, I compared specs and the 9800 is only marginally better(in some categories) for $40 more.

I hope I don't sound too stupid here, but PSU is power supply, right? Heh, I don't think I would've gotten that if not for Bigshow's post :X How do I know what my current one is? And how do I buy more? o_0; Sorry, don't know that much about computers. What do you think would be a good PSU to have in my situation?

You should be able to see a sticker on the PSU if you open up your case

Thermaltake, Antec, OCZ are decent brands. A Thermaltake Purepower 480W will run you a little over $50 and should be more than adaquate. Also, before you run out and buy a PSU you might want to check to make sure your case can handle a standard ATX PSU. I know I had a micro tower once that needed a smaller sized PSU. You might want to post your full model name/number of the computer.

I am not sure if you can upgrade the psu on a HP Convertible Mini Tower. I dont know about this computer in particular but I have seen cases which company uses parts that only work with a special psu. It would not surprise me if HP did this.

Thanks for the quick response. I have an HP Compaq d530 convertible minitower. Sorry, I haven't yet had the chance to open my case up and check out what I already have.
