The Blue screen

Hello, one more time I'm here...
This time my computer shuts down and all from the sunden a blue screen with white letters show up saying: "Your sistem was shut off to avoid possible damages to the computer." A lot more than that is said as well...
I'd like to know what it is all about, also I tryed formating it and the process was interrupted by the same note...

Thanks,
ALiVe_.

And now when I'm installing the windows again it says the installing process was interrupted because it could not copy certain files...
Hehehe, I have a laptop and I use it a lot, could those problems be a matter of high usage of the computer? Should I leave it off for a while and try again?

Thanks,
ALiVe_.

No. The frequency of the so called "Blue Screen of Death" does not depend on the usage of the computer. It depends on whether you have added any new softwares, or hardwares that does not work with your windows version. Did you add anything new?

It may also be some hardware like Ran bemalfunctioning. What you should do first is open the computer case and then after you airblow dust out of it, look if everything is ok. Good Luck.

huh? What do you mean by "Ran bemalfunctioning?"

yeah dude but I have a laptop... Should I open it and airblow it?

I don't think much dust is going to get into a laptop. Opening it and dust blowing it may make it worse. I say, don't do it.
yaeh that's exactly what I was thinking about. But now it looks like it's alright... I just left the computer off for about 12 hours and I could reinstall the windows with no problem... I think it was something with the high usage, since I've been playing World Of Warcraft now everyday for a long time and the time I'm not playing the computer was still on. A friend of mine had the same problem and he just left the computer off for like 1 day and started moderating the use of the computer and he didn't have any problems with it the last months.
Thank you all for helping and I wish you all a great week,
ALiVe_.

I have had this same problem with an old IBM ThinkPad laptop running Windows 98. I discovered that the problem is bad memory. The only option I had was repair or a new motherboard. I decided that for that particular laptop it was not worth it. If you got additional memory at any time try taking it out. Once the only memory that is in your laptop is the original try to install Windows if it works, great! If not it is most likely the motherboard memory that is bad (that means you need to get a new motherboard, repair, or a new laptop). This problem is a hardware problem not a software problem.

Be warned although the problem seems to be over it will most likely happen again (it did with me). The reason it seems like it is working is most likely that you have not needed to use the bad memory. If you see the "Blue Screen of Death" again try the above method to be sure if your memory attached directly to the motherboard is bad.

By the way don't you call it RAM malfuntioning

alright.... I'm seriously thinking it is the memory... the computer is freezing periodically.... like every 1.5sec.... and it freezes instantly and after 1.5sec it freezes again and so it goes...
I wonder how it happened, my laptop is not that bad... =/ not that old either...
When you say motherboard's memory you don't mean the RAM memory do you?

Yes, I do mean the RAM memory (attached directly to the motherboard). I was surprised that it happened to the Think Pad, but I guess sometimes it just happens. I don't know that it really has anything to do with the age of the computer it most likely was partly bad to start.
By the way I also tried reinstalling windows (2000 and XP) and it also could not copy files. I tried Slackware Linux as well and it did not work.
I did get Windows 98 and 95 to install but still got the blue screen.

yeah... looks pretty similar to the situation I got here, I was trying to reinstall but it could not copy certain files and after words I was getting the blue screen anyway. Then I turned it off for a while and later I could do everything alright.... but now it is freezing periodically, not always... Just sometimes and that's when I'm running a process which takes a lot of the computer's usage.

Thank you very much for the help, if it is the RAM memory it's not a big problem, I can buy 1gb for about 100U$. It's not too much anyway... I just like this computer a lot, bluetooth, infra red, SD car support, processor Intel (M) 1.6.... I don't think it is connected to the age of the computer... but you helped me very much, thank you.

Before you buy more RAM I want to make sure that you know that the memory I am talking about is attached directly to the motherboard and can not be removed (at least mine couldn't). So before you buy more I would suggest that you try to remove the bad memory.

yeah, I'm about to do try another RAM Memory in my computer anyway.... But I don't think I have my memory attached to the motherboard... it is removable (at least the last time I opened it, it was). I'm gonna see if it is the ram memory. if the problem lies somewhere else I'll throw this shit in the bin. hehe

i Had the same problem. the long error I was given means the NFTS (something like that) partition went bad. Either a new HDD or reformatting the partition would do the trick for me.

I don't know what the hell is going on, honestly... It really seems to be the sound card interfeering in the machine's performance. But the CPU usage is gone crazy. Looks like it is infected. I'm gonna hijackthis and send the log here in the forum to see what happens.
I'd just like to see someone replying my topic telling me where I should post my highjackthis log.
But it is not the HD, because my windows is formated and working well... maybe it's a virus in the External Hard Diks, I don't even know if that is possible. I'm gonna check it anyway.

I even had an expert look at mine and he said it was the RAM. He told me that that particular RAM was not removable.

Jordan

yeah yeah... you're right, although today I got an HD Error.... I installed a new ram (1gb) and it is working alright, what I found out today is that 256mb of ram are onboard, only the other 256 were off board. now the computer recognizes 1gb RAM.... The computer runs alright, but sometimes it really freezes.... I have to sort this thing out.
Probabily I'm gonna end up buying a Desktop anyway.
Thanks for the help guys,
