The Ghost Microphone

Hi there, I just bought a new headset and whilst on Teamspeak I realised I was really echoey with Voice Activiation. After a while looking into it I've unplugged all my microphone connections and speaker connections from my PC and I set Teamspeak to record and I played music on Windows Media Player (I couldn't actually hear the music because there were no speakers plugged in), saved the recording and when I plugged my speakers back in I found my PC had actually recorded the sound on Teamspeak from Windows Media Player! I think it could be recording sound from somewhere in the PC ?! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No I don't have a monitor speaker. I just checked my audio manager and it reckons there's a microphone and speaker plugged into the front panel of the PC (the front pink and green jacks) but there's nothing in there. I use a media hub to switch between headset and speakers and it used to work fine on my old computer but the same thing happens with a different headset so I reckon it might be something to do with the supposed connections to the front panel.
