hi guys,

just a question about the release date of this card?
I looked everywhere, but didn't find any date.
If you saw one? plz post it here! :P

can't wait for this card :D

I think I read that it was meant to come out in June. As that hasn't happened I assume it will come out in the next 1-2 months.

yeah, in april they said it's date was in may :P.

Haha yeah :P, that's what always happens with this sort of stuff.

I also just read that AMD might be waiting for Nividia to release their latest card and that they will release their's straight after.

nvidea has released their latest card already :P (I think so)

EDIT: or do you mean cards like the gtx660 and lower from the serie?

I've heard there is not going to be a 7990. At least not right now. Heard that AMD has gave card manufactures the go ahead to make a 7970X2. Which really is the same, but up to the manufactures to make the card.

it was already 2x7970 :P, the same with the GTX690=2xGTX680

I am wating for the 660s to see how they perform in sli compared to a 680.
I reckon the 660 will be an awesome card for the price, just like the 560 Ti was. It's almost certain it's going to be good value for money.

Kind of odd how AMD may be going back to their old 'X2' designation. I think the last X2 card was the 4870 X2 from some years ago; because the 5970 succeeded it and then the 6990 succeeded that IIRC.

I think you missed the point. AMD was going to release a 7990. AMD decided not to, but told manufactures they could if they wanted to. But had to name it a 7970X2. Of course they both would have been two 7970s.

^^^ above. AMD doesnt have to spend the money and time in research and development on a dual GPU PCB reference card.

Hmm, I remember seeing the 6870x2 by Powercolor but not many other companies. Perhaps it's gonna be a repeat of that deal, just with the higher end chipset instead of the midlevel(come to think of it the 6870x2 is the only mid-level dual-gpu card i've ever seen released). Sounds great, I predict it'll run nice and toasty, have driver problems, require tons of power, won't fit in most mid tower cases, and cost as much as two 7970 cards(800-1000) though. If not, it could turn into the new performance king for a good while.
