The resolution issue ;/

Hi,
I'm new there and I will be honest: I signed up here because i need your help. Hopefully, i can help you in the future ;)

I have a strange problem. After boot my resolution is not native. My native resolution is 1600x900, but i can't use it and "optimal" resolution is 1280x800...

I actually had that problem before (december last year) and i fixed it using regedit. I changed every [DefaultSettings.XResolution] to 1600 (DEC) and [DefaultSettings.YResolution] to 900 (DEC). But it doesn't work now and i noticed that in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Hardware Profiles\UnitedVideo\CONTROL\VIDEO\{CENSORED}\0000 these arguments are coming back to 1280 and 800 on every restart

Now i have no idea how to fix it. My drivers are ok (it's surely not the reason anyway), in msconfig base video boot is unchecked. I can't do anything in control panel as well.

Please help, i really need it

I have Intel HD Graphics 4000 (driver: 10.18.10.4276) and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M (driver: 10.18.13.6143)

Also: it's notebook SAMSUNG, windows 8.1 (64bit)

Well, not. But i don't think that drivers are problem as i said it before. When i had that problem in december i succesfully updated drivers and nothing changed. Maybe the problem is different, but i actually don't know it. It's hard to explain that issue.

I think i have it every time i restart system

Simple - when i click right button on the desktop there is "Resolution" and the best resolution there is 1280x800, i just can't pick 1600x900 there. That's what i mean. Control panel is fine. Sorry, i've written it imprecisely.

Ok, let's try it. But i still don't think so.

I noticed now that Support Center "noticed" that my resolution isn't right. In Control Panel->Display->Resolution is similar - there is a note: "If resolution is less than 1200x900, some elements may not fit on the screen" (or something like that - translated from turkish).

I will add, that this problem came very unexpectedly though. I just turn off my computer and problem is here... I have no idea what's going on.

Ok, I updated drivers few minutes ago and i have latest drivers succesfully installed. Unfortunately, as i thought, it wasn't source of problem, because nothing changed. I still can't use 1600x900. Thank you for help by the way.

Also i have to say that everything on my computer is alright now excluding that resolution :/
If drivers isn't, what is the issue? What do you think?

Honestly the whole history: In december i got that problem and i beat it with regedit. Until today everything was fine, but I had to restart my PC and that happened...

I know it seems so strange, so easy but it's true. Everything seems to be correct now excluding resolution, as i said before. And seems like nobody knows the solution, it's kind of phenomenon.

Well, i remember that when i had this problem in december i' ve formatted disk and nothing happened. And i think i'm not able to reinstall windows now, because i have no CD at least now. I don't think it's necessary if there wasn't very hard methods to fix problem in past. Maybe something with my device is wrong.

No one here claimed they were experts in anything. You came here, asked for help, we threw around a few ideas we thought could be the culprit, and you came back to mock?

There should be a recovery partition that you can boot to that will reinstall windows for you. Windows is probably corrupt. Have you tried running sfc /scannow in an elevated command prompt?

You have to remember there is no master fix for each and every issue. If nothing works, then reinstall windows and go from there. If it still does it then you can say you have bad motherboard. Simple as that.
