Thermal Paste Question

I bought an i5 2500k among all the other parts to build a new computer this week. I just realized I forgot thermal paste. I'd normally ask at the store but seeing as how they didn't suggest adding to all my parts, I'm assuming they don't know ;)

So here's what I'd like some advice on:

What type of paste should I use with the stock intel cooler?
what is the application process? I see a few different approaches and I'm totally new to this portion of a build. I've replaced every part in a computer except mobo and cpu until now.

Thanks in advance :)

Well i dont know if your knew to this or not, but the stock cooler does come with thermal paste pre-applied :) If you wanted a 'better' one then i dont really know much about thermal pastes but i hear arctic mx-4 and arctic silver are quite good ?

Im using stock fan with stock paste on my i5-2500k and its fine :)

well look at that, you learn something new everyday :) Thanks man :)

I seriously had no idea, I totally though you had to buy it separate. I just opened the box and looked at the heatsink, so that would totally explain the nice pasty pattern on the connection :P

HAHA! thanks :)

Yup, I used the stock paste that was on my cooler.
It can't be bad stuff since there is a longer warranty when you buy the retail box set.
