Thermal pasting

hi,

I got a Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro, and it came with pre-applied AC MX-1 thermal paste. However, I also got a seperate syringe of MX-1.

Would it be worth to clean the pre-applied paste, and replace it with fresh paste before installing the cooler? The pre-applied paste seems thick, and the solvent in the paste could possibly be already drying or something.

Thanks!

Most people will wipe off the pre-applied paste off with rubbing alcohol and apply better thermally conductive pastes like Arctic Silver 5 or Zalman's top-of-the-line brand...... I wouldn't necessarily trust the stuff that came with it........

The Arctic Cooling MX-1 is not to far behind AS5. The pre-applied paste is MX-1, but I also have more MX-1 in a syringe. So I'm just asking if it would make a big difference if I re-apply MX-1 instaid of keeping the pre-applied MX-1.
