Think CPU is working underclocked

Hi, i have a Pentuim 4 procesor with 1.6GHz, got a e-geforce MX 400 Pci video card with 64 MB. Got 352 MB of RAM. I wanted to overclock my CPU so that i works faster, I changed the multiplier in the BIOS from 8X to 12X... the FSB is 100 mhz and can not be changed, so then 100*12 = 1200mhz.... so then why is my processor a 1.6Ghz processor if by default it was running at 800MHz.... is there a way to prove that the overclocking is functioning (to see the increment as with a softaware or something)

when i enter my system specs it shows that the processor is working at a speed of 1.6GHz. That speed is determined by applying a clock multiplier to the front side bus. If the FSB is set by default to be working at 100 MHz and my clock multiplier when i got for the first time to the BIOS without changing anything was 8X. That if you multiply is a speed of 800MHz, while my computer is supposed to run at 1.6GHz. That means it is underclocked... right? or have I misunderstanded something??

thats the fsb not the clock speed.
No it isnt. The FSB would be 200MHz and the bus speed would be 800MHz. Also 800MHZ "FSB" processors didnt ship for P4-1.6s :)

Think CPU is working underclocked
Check speedstep and any energy/temp settings :)

That means it is underclocked... right?
That is quite the possibility ... what does windows tell you? :) CPUz can tell ya (www.cpuid.com)

my clock doesn´t change even if i go to the BIOS and change it...is mu CPU locked some way??? even if i raise the multiplier up to X23 it keeps displaying X16
