Thinkcentre bios 'system summary' access

Hi,
I have an old Thinkcentre S51 that I would like to access the bios 'system summary' on. I can access most of the bios, but when I try to make changes to this summary it says that I should either consult my administrator or other parts of the setup.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how this can be done?
Thanks,
.... john

Is this an old work/school machine? Might be locked by an old systems admin.

Some BIOS's don't let you change advanced settings unless you set an Admin password. If you haven't set one already, go ahead and do that and try it again.

Hi Darren,
To tell you the truth, I don't remember where I got it from, but it was years ago. I'm exhuming it because I screwed up my Windows 7 machine. I'm logged in as Admin already. Do you think setting a password will work? If so, wouldn't it have to be a specific one?

The password I'm referring to is in the BIOS itself. Totally unrelated to Windows. Look for a security tab or similar within the BIOS. It's a weird quirk where it doesn't let you change settings until at least some admin password is made. You can sometimes enable the password, change the setting, then get rid of the password again.

OK, thanks.
I've gone back to my old(er) computer for the moment, but I'll try that later, and let you know how it goes.
Thanks again,
