This a Good PSU?

Not too bad for a sub-$50 PSU, but not great either. The available power is also a little tight for an 8800 series card. The Corsair is a great PSU, and strongly recommended if you don't mind spending the extra money. If you really want something cheap, the Ultra XVS 600W is better than that Thermaltake, IMO. Plenty more recommendations here: http://www.computerforum.com/90117-ceewi1s-psu-recommendations.html

Newegg says that the 8800gts only requires a 400watt psu so i'd think that 500 should be enough (i'm reallyyy on a budget)

lol dont worry bro, i was about to try to run a 8800GTS on a 425W PSU, but i changed my mind,I'll change it. 500 will be enough, but what you really need to look at is the Amps, Normally Watts are not a problem, but on my present power supply i cant run this new card because i have only 20A and a 8800 need 26 :(

The Thermaltake is a rebadged Channelwell 450W :). I know it meets the official minimum, but it still doesn't leave much headroom. What are your feelings on the Ultra XVS? It's cheaper than the Thermaltake.
