This equipment OK?

Lets say around $350. The parts that I had listed up there costed $322 total. I am a 14 year old who doesn't get allowance, so it's a little hard to get money (even harer to find work too), but I could scrape up the extra money. But does anyone know if those parts will work together? I don't wanna spend too much money on a compy.

1. Is that amobile annihilator? ;)
2. Go with onboard sound and save a bit of money to pour somewhere else
3. The link for mobo and processor dont work
4. Get a computer first, then worry about the case :)
5. Nice price for the HDD, too damn old realisticaly though.
6. Use on board ethernet

Mobile annihilator? You mean my avatar? Yea. Gotta love dem scorpion tanks!

Here's the link for the processor and mobo: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1105675&CatId=191

Hmmmm...Ya, ur right. Then I'll have more PCI slots open if I have it onboard, but I can't find a MoBo with onboard sound and ethernet. At least, not one in a combo deal with processor.

The HDD is good enough for me, I mean, I don't have that man programs. I had a compy with 10 gig and that was enough. What motherboard would you reccomend that has onboard sound/ehternet? Thanks for your help!

I have a seperate PS controlling the fans. So I have a 300 watt one dedicated to the MoBo, processor, etc. So, all this stuff will work together, I'm assuming?

hard drive to slow get a 7500
it's 7200 not 7500 :) but its a good suggestion 5400 is pretty slow
That motherboard has onboard ethernet so unless you need dual ethernet you can save like $10, TigerDirect apparently no longer sells either the board or ethernet card though.

Annihilators friggen rule :P

Luckily its not that bad a problem for that specific combo since you've got 4 PCI slots which is decent. As for combo deals, I dunno. Try getting them separatly ... many times cheaper and you can get exactly what you want :)

I meant the rotational speed, 5400rpm. That speed spec was dropped circa 2000 in favor of the more effective 7200rpm drives

What kind of budget are we operating with? My fav for the Socket478s is the ASUS P4P800SE (or series), http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket478/p4p800se/overview.htm .. as for fitting with the budget that might be a bit difficult .... realistically you should prolly consider getting an AMD platform as its much easier to try to fit within that budget

How exactly does the 2nd PSU control/power the fans? (i.e., without be switched via the mobo) ...now i know its doable but i get the feeling you're not doing what i have in mind.

Ur probably right...I have tons of 12 volt adaptors lying around, and I have some male conectors hooked up to the fans...Works for me! Anyway, I don't have that much money...I already have to take out a little loan from the bank of dad...BUt I'm pretty content with what I have there. Also, all of the AMD processors are out of my price range. The ones that are only have about 1.75 ghz.
