Lately my computer has gone wild. After many tests i concluded that my hard disk was dieing and i don't know why and my DVD/CD-WR is semi dead.
I don't know why this happened. About the CD.. my brother was burning a CD and the process had some problems so the computer was restarted during the burning. Now it almost reads no CDs and no DVDs and it doesn't burn properly.
Any thought why this could have happened?

Now i want to buy a DVD-WR and a new Hard disk.
About the DVD-WR, i heard DVDs read CDs very slowly is that true? And DVD-writers burn CD too right...so is it better to buy a DVD-WR even though i won't be burning DVDs much?

thanks.

Completely up too you !, but you can pick them up so cheap off the net you may as well get one anyway !.

Well how about a cheap one like this: LG GSA-4163B 16X DVDRW - Dual Layer Ivory. Does this write and read good?

I've got the $38 or $39 NEC burner off newegg in one of my bays and a Rosewill burner in the other, also not very expensive. Both work great.
