this is getting annoying

alright, so, whenever i open up a file, or even change a website, one of my fans starts to get quite loud for a second or two, then it quiets right back down, i can't tell which fan it is, but it's really getting quite annoying, any ideas?

id say try disconecting them 1 by 1 and see what one it is then replace it ive never heard of that tho maybe drawing too much power?

dont disconnect the cpu fan, next time you hear the noise have a look at the cpu usage in task manager under the performanc tab and post back what it says the cpu usage is

alright, so i have a program called PC wizard running, and when the fan speeds up and crap, the CPU usage jumps from about 5% to around 50-60%

EDIT: 60-70% sorry

i would start by typing msconfig into run and selecting the startup tab and disabling PC wizard then see how it goes if that doesnt work post back what mouse you have

Some motherboards have a thing that controls the fan speed, I think it's called Smart Fan Control or something... you should be able to disable it in the BIOS so the fan runs at a constant speed.

alright, i probably should have said that the computer that's having these problems is a cheap pre built that i pretty much only use for school. As for disabling PC wizard, it already is disabled on startup, the mouse is a generic compaq mouse, and the GPU has no fan. Also there is no fan control in the BIOS

See if there is another connector that you could plug the fan to on the board... if not, and if it bothers you that much, you could just unplug the fan, it probably wouldn't be that big of a deal if you only use it for school stuff.

you cant unplug your CPU fan, your CPU will fry, then you will have no computer for school work

yeh dont unplug the cpu fan try a diffrent mouse also right click my computer select properties and then the hardware tab then device manager and make sure there are no yellow ?if there is post back what they are

Sorry, I mis read this:

and the GPU has no fan

I thought he said the CPU didn't have a fan, like on older computers. Of course you should leave the fan on if it's on the CPU.

It's definitely not the mouse. There is something on the computer detecting when CPU usage increase and it increases the fan speed along with it.

well, i hate to bump...but i'm gonna cause this is really bugging me, occasionaly it rattles a bit, i know which fan it is, and the highest i've seen it is 2250rpm according to speedfan

oh, and also, in speedfan, it says that the temparature of "remote" is 64 with a little flame icon...but i have no idea what remote is.....

it sounds like your heat sink/fan may have come loose? 64c is a bit hot for anything. I am betting that it's your CPU temp seeing that every time you do something (open a folder for example) you use your CPU which causes the rise in temps, and your computer automatically will raise the fan speed to compensate.

I would try a reseat the heatsink and fan with some arctic silver 5. My fan used to rev too till I got the AS5 now it never revs because it dropped my load temps by 16c

good luck hope this helps. :D

alright, so, i decided to open up the BIOS and see what those said, and the cpu temp is more like 58c!!!! I turned off the PC for about twenty minutes and it cooled to about 40c.....i may not now a ton about computers, but i know that's too hot, and it worries me....soo? anyone have any suggestions?

try some Arctic Silver 5 my temps under load were 70/71 now im never over 53, and idle is 39c

kk, i bought some arctic silver 5, applied it and the "remote temp" has dropped to about 57c according to speedfan, and according to the BIOS the CPU temp is around 41c, idk what this remote is...but i'm thinking it probably shouldn't be that hot, i opened up my case and felt around and there was nothing in there that felt that hot so idk...
