I currently have a gigabyte ga-ma78gm-s2h model motherboard. I recently purchased a AM3 CPU as I've read up on this motherboard that its AM3 Ready but on the box itself says it supports AM2+ Phenom/AM2 Athlon 64 Series. Well the motherboard supports an AM3 45nm CPU Processor. I purchased an AM3 Phenom II X2 550 3.1ghz dual core 80w, I'm pretty sure the 45nm and 80w are two different things. For some reason the motherboard detects the CPU unknown...any suggestions? Do you think I should take it back and buy an AM2+?

^ yup you got it;)

Those older am2+ mobo's have to have an updated bios for them to support the newer chips.
